A New Book by Dr Stefania Krzysztofowicz-Kozakowska
In September the IRSA Foundation published a book by Dr Stefania Krzysztofowicz-Kozakowska entitled “Franciszek Żmurko i jego Pieśń wieczorna”. The book presents the painting “Pieśń wieczorna” (Evening song) against the background of Franciszek Żmurko’s artistic output.

A New Book by Professor Andréi Nakov
In September the IRSA Foundation published a book by Professor Andréi Nakov entitled “Malewicz: Beyond Censorship”. This analysis of the oeuvre of Kazimierz Malewicz uncovers its important but until now overlooked aspects. The monograph was published with the support of the Archive of Modern Conflict and the King Baudouin Foundation Canada, and is available also in French, as “Malewicz: au-delà des censures”.

A Meeting of the Stasys Museum SEMC Committee
A sitting of a committee of the emergent Stasys Museum SEMC in Panevėžys, Lithuania, with the participation of the barrister Zbigniew Niebrzydowski, Józef Grabski, Arūnas Astramskas, temporary director of the Stasys Museum SEMC, Rytis Mykolas Račkauskas, mayor of Panevėžys and Ignacy Eidrigiewicz, the son of the artist, among others.
November 30th
Collaboration with the “Common Arts Foundation”
In November, the IRSA Foundation signed an agreement with the “Common Arts Foundation” founded by Jakub Mrówka. The planned collaboration is supposed to encompass an edition of catalogues raisonnés and digitalisation of the works by Jerzy Tchórzewski, Jan Lebenstein and Tadeusz Brzozowski.

Publication of a volume of selected papers by Professor Piotr Skubiszewski
The IRSA Foundation published a volume of selected papers by Professor Piotr Skubiszewski “Studies in Medieval Iconography. Collected Essays 1962–2011”. The book includes fourteen articles devoted to different ways in which ecclesiastical teaching shaped the art of medieval Latin Europe. The author has attempted to provide a selection from the now vast, pertinent literature in the updated references to individual papers included in the present volume.
December 10th
Presentation of the volume of collected essays to Professor Piotr Skubiszewski
In the Columned Hall of the University of Warsaw the volume of selected papers written by Professor Piotr Skubiszewski was presented to the Author on the occasion of His 90th birthday. The laudation for Professor Skubiszewski was delivered by Professor Marek Walczak, director of the Institute of Art History of the Jagiellonian University. The book was published by IRSA in the “Bibliotheca of Artibus et Historiae” series.

The Marian Sokołowski Prize
The Marian Sokołowski Prize for the best MA thesis in art history written at Cracow universities in the 2020/2021 academic year was awarded to Violetta Korsakova, MA, for her thesis “Art-historical methodology in Władysław Podlacha’s handbook”, written under the supervision of Professor Wojciech Bałus.
Distinctions went to Adam Szczepaniec, MA, for the thesis “Reconstruction of the Castle in Legnica after Fire in 1711. Contribution to the Research on the Architecture in Silesia at the Beginning of the 18th Century”, written under the supervision of Professor Piotr Krasny. Adam Szczepaniec received also the Special award of the IRSA Foundation. Both theses were written in the Institute of Art History of the Jagiellonian University.

IRSA Foundation published a monograph on Palmyra
The monograph on Palmyra written by Professor Michał Gawlikowski was published by the IRSA Foundation. Based on years of fieldwork, the book gives a lavishly illustrated overview of the history of Palmyrene architecture and sculpture presented against the background of religion and politics. An album of selected photographs, which have been taken during the excavations, shows the reader around the remains of the ancient city.
The publication of the book has been supported by Polish Ministry of Education and Science from the funds of the “Excellent Science” programme (DNM/SN/513583/2021).
