February 1st

Presentation of the book “Portraiture in Old Poland”

The Wawel Royal Castle hosted the presentation of the book “Portraiture in Old Poland” by Professor Jan K. Ostrowski. The publication of this book was possible thanks to the cooperation of the IRSA Foundation for the Promotion of Culture, the Wawel Royal Castle in Wawel – State Art Collection, and the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów. The event was hosted by Professor Jan K. Ostrowski, Professor Andrzej Betlej, Professor Józef Grabski, president of the IRSA Foundation, and the translators of the book Sabina Potaczek-Jasionowicz and Nicholas Hodge.

Meeting in Venice

A meeting between the president of the IRSA Foundation and representatives of the Fondazione Centro Studi Tiziano e Cadore took place in Venice. The talks focused on opportunities for cooperation between the two foundations.

An evening dedicated to the memory of Professor Andréi Nakov

During a meeting devoted to the academic work of Professor Andréi Nakov held at the Centre Pompidou in Paris Professor Józef Grabski presented Professor Nakov’s connections with Poland and his research on Polish artists.

An opening of the Stasys Museum

The Stasys Museum, dedicated to the work of Stasys Eidrigevičius, was opened in Panevėžys, Lithuania. Professor Józef Grabski, representing the IRSA Foundation, attended the ceremony.

A new book by IRSA

IRSA Foundation published a book “L’Âne qui joue de la lyre” with the play of the same title by Jadwiga Kukułczanka, accompanied by scholarly texts by Krystyna Czerni PhD and Professor Tadeusz Lubelski.

Meeting with members of the Fondazione Centro Studi Tiziano e Cadore

A meeting between representatives of the IRSA Foundation and members of the Fondazione Centro Studi Tiziano e Cadore took place at the seat of the IRSA Foundation in Kraków.

December 19th

The Marian Sokołowski Prize

The Marian Sokołowski Prize for the best MA thesis in art history written at the Institute of Art History of the Jagiellonian University in the 2023/2024 academic years was awarded to at the Institute of Art History. Professor Józef Grabski, the Chair of the IRSA Foundation, is one of the members of the award jury.
This year’s prize was awarded to Weronika Pisarska, MA, for her thesis “Feelings of the self”. The art of Young Poland artists in the context of the theories of Bronisław Trentowski, Stanisław Przybyszewski and Stanisław Brzozowski, written under the supervision of Professor Andrzej Szczerski.
Special award of the IRSA Foundation went to Damian Galos, MA, for his thesis Devilish décolletage. Constructs of femininity in the art of Tadeusz Styka written under the supervision of Professor Wojciech Bałus.
